My baby!

I can't believe my baby is a week and a half old. Time sure flies by when you're having fun and learning how to be the mother of a newborn! Jeb and I sure love her to pieces and are grateful Heavenly Father entrusted her to us. She is so sweet and is a happy baby. Each day I feel better and don't hurt as bad and can do more around the house and I am starting to feel like life is normalizing (i hope that's a word). I'm sure it will take a while to feel like we have a good routine in place. I sure love my sweet little girl, it's crazy how quickly you fall in love with your child. Today she has been sleeping a lot but i've been trying to wake her up every 2 to 3 hours so that we can get into a good routine and she can eventually sleep through the night. I sure love watching Jeb with her! He is so cute with his little girl. They will be great friends when she gets older. She loves to snuggle up to him (especially since he is so warm!)

Thank you to everyone for your help and love!! We appreciate what everyone has done for us. Especially our parents!! Thanks to my mom too for all of her help this past week she sure has done alot!
We love you all!

Update on Ahnika!

Ahnika is the best baby ever! But i'm her mom so i may be a little biased! No but she really is a good baby. She doesn't like having her bum changed cause she doesn't like to be cold. She's been eating great and of course sleeps alot but also likes to have cuddle time and will be wide awake. I love it when I feed her and she is wide awake and looks at me!! I wonder what babies think and dream. (sorry random thought) She smiles alot and is the cutest little thing ever. Jeb and I have been having lots of fun with her. The first night home I had to wake her up twice to feed and change her, the second night was a little rough we think she got cold. :( But she really only woke up a few times. Last night was better. She woke up about every 3 hours, ate and went back to bed. We both are a little sleep deprived but are starting to get into a routine. Jeb has been a ton of help and loves his little girl! It sure is fun to watch him with her. I love snuggling her and i love how cuddly she is after she eats!! We gave her, her first bath last night. She didn't really like the bath part (as mentioned before) she hates being naked and cold. But she loved getting her hair washed and brushed!! Her hair is so pretty and soft! We are so grateful to be her parents and are so grateful that she has such a sweet spirit and is so good!

Thank you to all of our family members and friends for all of their help this past week! Everyone has been so helpful and excited for us! Thank you everyone especially our families and all of those that have brought us breakfast, lunch and dinner! We love and appreciate everyone!!
Oh and my friend Kelly made a comment on the last post asking if the "a" in Ahnika is a soft a like awesome or and. The "A" is pronounce like the "a" in awesome.

We are home!

We got home today and are so excited to have her in our lives! We named her Ahnika Rose Ingram! (You pronounce it with a soft a, ah-ni-ka) She is so precious and is doing great! We can't believe we have such a beautiful little girl in our lives! She is going to be so much fun! Thank you to everyone for your comments and especially to Jeb, my mom, dad, Jeb's parents and all of our sibilings for your love, support and help. Jeb and my Mom helped me so much during labor, the birth, and afterwards. Thank you Jeb for being there every minute to care for me and Ahnika! I really felt cared for by Jeb and mom and everyone! Our stay at the hospital was great, the nurses were very helpful and kind.

We are excited for this new experience and hope to be good parents! Hopefully we can get some sleep!

Speaking of that I am off to bed. I will write more tomorrow.

(As told by Jeb) Well it all started Monday (10/4) night at 11pm with small contractions and by midnight molly couldn’t sleep or even lie down. Molly woke me up at 2:17 a.m. Tuesday (10/5) morning saying she was in labor, she thought. We timed the contractions and they were 2-4 minutes apart and lasting 45-60 seconds. We decided to head to the hospital around 3 a.m. and got to our room about a half-hour later. They hooked Molly up to the monitors and checked her, only dilated to a 1. DAMN! The nurse said she would check back in an hour and she if Molly had progressed. Her contractions didn’t let up at all. After the hour the nurse came back to check. Still only dilated to a 1and 1/2! DOUBLE DAMN! The nurse called Dr Nance and he sent us home at 5:30 a.m. with a morphine shot to wait it out. I think it should be mandatory the husband gets one too! Longest ride home EVER!

We got home and tried to get Molly as comfortable as we could. Contractions didn’t let up at all. The morphine took the edge off but that was it. Every 2-4 minutes it would hit for 45-60 seconds. That’s hard to sleep through but somehow I managed. ;) Molly was able to nap between the contractions and through the small ones. Around 2pm Tuesday she couldn’t take it any longer. A bath didn’t help, no position was comfortable, and I couldn’t sleep any more. So we decided to go back to the hospital. We made a firm resolution that we weren’t going to let them send us home again! And they didn’t! They re-admitted us around 3:30 p.m. and Molly was at a 3/3+. That was great news! They hooked her back up to the monitors and made a call for an epidural. Once the epidural was in it was smooth sailing for Molly. The baby on the other hand couldn’t decide how fast she wanted her heart to beat. It would race then slow to scary slowness (is that a word?). There were tubes and monitors and needles and all sorts of things coming out of and going into my wife.

Her labor was “text book” as per her nurses. Her dilation followed schedule and the Dr called, yes he called, around 8p.m. She was fully dilated and the baby was headed out. He arrived around 8:30 p.m. and the pushing began! After 15 minutes of pushing and some pulling from the Dr, our little slimy beautiful daughter was born. The Dr worked quick and had her crying only seconds after she came out. The only time her crying will bring relief I’m sure. He clamped off the cord and handed me the scissors. I had planned on using my pocket knife but I was lost in the moment. I was officially a daddy! The Dr handed her off and went back to work on my beautiful wife, who was and has been so strong through the whole thing. The nurses cleaned her up and started to do whatever they do. I was just watching and taking pictures. Her breathing was labored and that was a concern to nurses and Dr. They cleaned her up so she could get some skin on skin with mom and hopefully regulate her breathing and calm her down. Her breathing regulated and she was just fine. Grandparents were introduced and after a short time with mom it was time for her first bath, after dad got to hold her for the first time.

The exam and bath went fine. They checked her. They cleaned her. I watched. Then it was off to see mom and chill for the night. Night wasn’t chill though. Molly was in terrible pain and couldn’t sleep, some staff member would come in to check this or monitor that, baby needed to be fed, and when Molly had to potty, it was a stage production requiring all members of the cast and crew. Molly survived the night and is doing great. Baby is great as well. I’m sure Molly will update this when she can.

Final stats:
22hours of labor
8lbs 12oz

Last Saturday we had a very fun, eventful and long day!! In the morning we woke up and headed down to Manti which is about an hour and a half from our house so we left about 6:45 am. It was really early. Friday night we hung out with our friends at our usual neighborhood firepit, which is really fun, we start at 9:30pm and go til about midnight. I was planning on going to bed much earlier since we had to wake up so early. But I didn't. Anyway so we got down to Manti around 8:20 and headed in to the Temple for Chet and Hailee's sealing. I sure made all of the workers real worried. They kept asking if I was ok and if I would be alright going up and down the stairs. When we got to the waiting room the sealer came in and asked when i was due and how I was feeling and said they have doctors there just in case. I said I was fine and not to worry. When we got into the sealing room we sat by Hailee's brother and sister in-law (she is also pregnant) and the sealer looked at us and was like oh my goodness it's maternity row. It was funny. The sealing was beautiful, we were glad we were able to go! After the sealing we took some family pictures and then headed to fountain green for a luncheon. It was at the same place they got married. After lunch we headed to Jeb's parents house and took a little rest then his mom and I went over to Robyn's house where they were throwing me a baby shower!!
It was a great shower! They had awesome desserts and lots of people came. It was an open house style shower so as people came I would open presents and then everyone would sit around and chat for a bit.

I didn't get a ton of pictures with my camera but Colleen took alot with her camera.
It was a really fun day but I sure was exhausted after all the excitement was over.
